Young Angels Theatremakers 2010-12

Now in its fourth year, this award offers one emergent team of theatremakers £20,000 and the opportunity to develop, direct and produce a new European play for young audiences.
Applicants were asked to select one of the following award-winning plays, which were presented as staged readings during Theatre Cafe Festival 2010 by Company of Angels:
* Anne and Zef (Holland) by Ad de Bont, translated by Rina Vergano or * Dead Girls Don't Grow Up (Spain) by Beth Escude y Galles, translated by John Ginman
The winner of the Young Angels Theatremakers award for 2010-12 is Bed Kidd, he will be directing Anne and Zef at Salisbury Playhouse in March 2012. Find out more here.
Background: Now in its third year, the Young Angels Theatremakers Award is a collaboration between Company of Angels and The Junction supported by Arts Council England.
In 2007, two teams of theatremakers received a £5,000 R&D Award and access to rehearsal space. Emma Bettridge and Abigail Graham developed Jack’s Quest, a new interactive play for children, while Oystein Brager and Philip Thorne, aka Imploding Fictions, staged a UK premiere of Swiss play Norway.Today by Igor Bauersima. In 2008, Young Angels Theatremakers was run in collaboration with Soho Theatre and the Embassy of Sweden. A £20,000 award was offered for the production of Swedish play Invasion! at Soho Theatre (Spring 2009). In 2009, Fanshen won the award to produce and tour Blowing by Jeroen van den Berg (Autumn 2010). In 2010-12, Ben Kidd won the award to direct Anne and Zef at Salisbury Playhouse
